SAMOAN COUNTRY SINGER TAULIA LAVE RELEASES HIGHLY ANTICIPATED DEBUT ALBUM ‘MODERN DAY COWBOY’
Nashville, TN – October 4, 2024 – Taulia Lave aka ‘Big T’ releases his highly anticipated debut album "Modern Day Cowboy". The album is an inspired tribute to his father, who’s passing inspired Taulia’s journey into music just five years ago.
As part of the recording process, Taulia rented a historic home in the Waverly district of Nashville, and brought a dozen of his family members from Hawai’i so they could be included in the album’s creation.
Picture this: twelve Samoans in a Nashville studio, cheering on Taulia as he honors his father through his music. It’s a warm, joyful, and raucous affair - and you can feel that energy in every track on this album.
Taulia recorded the album at Station West Studios in Nashville, a place known for recording hits with the likes of Brad Paisley, Dierks Bentley, and Dustin Lynch. Producer Austin Stanley assembled an impressive group of veteran Nashville session players, including James Mitchell, Scotty Sanders, Tim Galloway, Mike Rojas, Brent Rader, and Jacob Filer. Studio owner Luke Wooten was so taken by the project that he decided to lend his expertise as the Mastering Engineer.
Songs released from the album include the Band Of Heathens classic “Hurricane” (released Jun 21, 2024) which is known for breaking the usual country music molds.; Taulia’s version adds another layer to the song’s rich legacy and is already a crowd favorite at his shows.
‘Me & You’ (released July 26, 2024) is a velvety country ballad that fans of Gary Allan will appreciate - like a smooth glass of fine bourbon at the end of a long day, this song celebrates those stolen moments of calm with your partner in crime.
The title track of the album was released on August 30, 2024 and celebrates the unsung heroes of our time—the hardworking men across the country who work tirelessly, often without recognition, to provide for their families and keep their communities thriving.
“I’m not out here claiming to be a cowboy,” says Taulia, “but I know what it’s like to work hard, to fail, and to get back up with a smile on your face. This song is for everyone out there who makes it happen every day without complaining—cheers to all of you.”
Raised on the rugged coast of Waiʻanae, Oʻahu, Taulia’s musical influences are as diverse as the landscape that shaped him. From Randy Travis, Reba McIntyre, and George Strait to Motown and traditional Samoan tunes, his sound is a unique blend that speaks to the universal human experience.
